A Stereophile Recommended Component for many years

A remarkably musical turntable

A Stereophile magazine recommended component for many years and highly rated by many audio publications including The Absolute Sound, the Music Hall MMF-5 turntable is a complete 2-speed (33 and 45 rpm) turntable system with a glass platter, felt mat, high grade tonearm, Goldring G1012 moving magnet cartridge (a $225.00 value), dual plinth arrangement, metal screw-on record clamp, round spirit level, spare belt and 45 rpm adapter. At only $629.00, it is considered by many to have no peer within its price range. There are also others who would call the MMF-5 turntable downright sensational.

Consider this belt drive turntable's many singular features.

Two-Plinth Design
It has an original and unique 2-plinth design with six rubber springs separating the bottom platform from the top. This gives the turntable an extra level of isolation.
The compliant feet, 2-speed synchronous motor, switch, wiring and electrical parts are on the bottom plinth while the critical sound reproducing components, the bearing, arm and cartridge are mounted on the top platform.

Glass Platter & Precision Bearing
The low-resonance glass platter and felt mat sit on a high quality, stainless steel ball bearing sheathed in Teflon providing fluid and noise-free operation. The bearing assembly comes pre-charged with lubricant. A metal screw-on record clamp is standard equipment as is the round spirit level.

The Tonearm
The effective length of the tone arm is nine and a half inches. This allows for a very shallow tracking arc on the record thus reducing distortion.

The Cartridge
The tonearm comes fitted with a high quality Goldring G1012 moving magnet cartridge (a $225.00 value).

Plug and Play
The Music Hall MMF-5 turntable is easy to assemble and comes with an excellent instruction manual. The arm and cartridge are pre-mounted so all you need to do is set the tracking force and anti-skating as you would with any initial set-up.

Carbon Fidelity is a bargain!

I’m not even going into details about how much money (thousands) I’ve spent on different phono cartridges with exotic stylus. Comparatively, the Carbon Fidelity CFN3600LE Stylus is an incredible bargain. Tracks very well, low surface noise, zero IGD and best of all sounds terrific. You really can’t go wrong!

Excellent sound quality

Life changing

I wish I was being dramatic
I didn’t want to pay for a new record player for my Billie Ellis vinyls
But I can listen to the songs clear as day now with this!! Okay, it skips sometimes as you would expect
But cheaper than getting a couple hundred dollar record player

Very nice upgrade.

I've had this for over 6 months, and I can report that it has much better bass, and treble than the original. Everything is very clean and detailed sounding. A few notable examples. I recently ordered Eva Cassidy Live Blues Alley 25th anniversary, 180gram, 45RPM. The soundstage is absolutely amazing. It is on the same level, if not surpasses MoFi Eric Clapton Unplugged SACD. My sister gifted me the soundtrack to Sinners on 180gram vinyl. I actually heard the soundtrack before I saw the movie. I didn't know vinyl could support so much bass. My room becomes fully pressurized with that soundtrack, backed by a SVS SB3000. Last would be Miles Davis Kind of Blue. I have this on 200gram 33/3RPM and MoFi SACD. I can hear tape hiss on both, and both sound very much the same. SACD wins on floor noise, but really not by much. My vinyl copy is also crazy clean sounding, but sonically sounding, they sound so close.
